Clubfitting
Our Clubfitting Program
There are over 20 different golf club specifications that affects the performance of the club. Proper clubfitting will eliminate the poor performance you get form those discount store clubs. This could lower your handicap by as much as 30% depending on the severity of mismatch. Imagine not being able to brake 100, however, with a set of properly fitted clubs, you're regularly shooting in the 90's with potantial for the 80'S. This can be accomplished in a short period of time with the purchase of a new set of properly fitted golf clubs.
As a service to our patrons, we'll put you in contact with our top-notch clubmaker or we can make the arrangements for you. Normally this takes one hour and can be accomplished on our driving range. Walnut Run Golf Course provides this service with no additional mark-up to the customer. All payments are made directly to the clubmaker.

USGA Handicap System
Walnut Run Golf Course provides all club members with an Official USGA Handicap for only $10. All golfers can compete on an equal basis and enjoy the game of golf. As an outstanding member of the golfing community, Walnut Run is more than happy to provide any golfer with this excellent service for a nominal fee. Please ask in the Pro Shop for details.
Player's USGA Handicap Index
Thanks to the USGA Handicap System, all golfers can compete on an equal basis. A Player's USGA Handicap Index compares the player's scoring ability to the scoring ability of an expert amateur on a course of standard difficulty. The Index indicates a golfer's skill and comes in the form of a number taken to one decimal place, e.g. 11.6. A player posts his scores along with the appropriate USGA Ratings to make up his scoring record. A Handicap Index is computed from no more than 20 scores in the scoring record. It reflects the player's potential because it is based upon the best scores posted for a given number of rounds, ideally the best 10 of the last 20 rounds. The basic premise underlies the USGA Handicap System, namely that every player will try to make the best score he can at each hole in every round he plays, regardless of where the round is played, and that he will post every acceptable round for peer review.
Walnut Run Golf Course Rating Gold Tee 72.5, Black Tee 70.1, Blue Tee 68.9, Silver Tee 67.7
USGA Course Rating is the USGA's mark that indicates the evaluation of the playing difficulty of a course for scratch golfers under normal course and weather conditions. It is expressed as strokes taken to one decimal place, and is based on yardage and other obstacles to the extent that they affect the scoring ability of a scratch golfer.
Walnut Run Golf Course Slope Rating Gold Tee 126, Black Tee 122, Blue Tee 115, Silver Tee 109
USGA Slope Rating is the USGA's way of measuring the relative difficulty of a course for players who are not scratch golfers compared to the Course Rating (i.e. compared to the difficulty of the course for scratch golfers). The lowest Slope Rating is 55, and the highest is 155. A golf course of standard playing difficulty has a USGA Slope Rating of 113.
